In 1965, the Community of Christ was organized in the
Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C. We currently own and
worship at La Casa, a building on Mount Pleasant’s main street that we
offer to the community for meetings, activities, programming, and other
needs. Below are two articles about the community. Walt Scarvie, a long-time pastor of the Community, wrote the first. Scarvie died in 2008, and left us with these words about life: “It’s all gift.” “Community of Christ: An experiment with flexible servanthood,” was written by John E. Schramm, the Community’s first pastor, and published in This Day in September 1966. Each document can be viewed or downloaded as a PDF.
